Needle and Syringe Disposal Program

(Household Medical Waste: Sharps, Hypodermic Needles, & Syringes)

The Johnson County Health Department and the Johnson County Solid Waste Management District recommend using a professional sharps container for storage of used needles/syringes before their ultimate disposal.

These containers are FREE OF CHARGE to Johnson County residents. You may pick up a container from the Health Department located at 86 West Court Street, West Court House Annex, Franklin. Once the container is full, return it to the Health Department where appropriate disposal will be accomplished at no charge to you. Obtain another free container for your use.

This program is a convenient way to insure that there are no accidental sticks of persons coming into contact with needles during the collection and disposal of trash.
