Communicable Disease Investigation

There are approximately 70 diseases that hospitals, doctors, and laboratories are required by law to report to the local health department.  Communicable diseases are illnesses of public health significance that can be spread from person to person.  Examples of such diseases include Hepatitis, Shigellosis, Measles, and Tuberculosis.
