The (WIC) Women, Infants and Children's Program is a special supplemental food and nutrition program.

Those eligible for WIC include:

  • Pregnant Women

  • Breastfeeding Mothers (up to one year after delivery)

  • Postpartum nonbreastfeeding mothers (up to six months after delivery)

  • Infants

  • Children under five years of age

WIC Services:

Participants receive checks which can be redeemed for specified nutritional foods at approved grocery stores.  These foods include:  milk, cheese, juice, eggs, beans, peanut butter, and cereal.  Tuna and carrots are added for an exclusively breastfeeding mom.  Unless breastfeeding, infants receive formula, infant cereal at 4 months of age and infant juice at 9 months of age.  Breastfeeding is encouraged at WIC and breast pumps are provided, if needed.  A lactation consultant is also available for breastfeeding support.  Participants also receive nutrition counseling, and nutrition education given by a Registered Dietitian or a Registered Nurse. We do physical assessments which include, height/weight measurements and anemia screening.  Referrals to other health and social services are also provided.
